Visa for Spain – which one is for you:

Stay informed to make the right decision. Here are some of your options and why:

  1. Non Lucrative Visa – for those who can afford to live in Spain for a year or 2 without working.
  2. Self Employment Visa / Work Permit – If you wish to start a business and do not qualify for the Non lucrative Visa. The non-lucrative is easier so make this your first choice.
  3. Business Plan for Self Employment Visa
  4. Working Visa as Employee
  5. Golden Visa/ Capital Investor – contact Andrew Rissik from Sable International. (Reliable & Trustworthy).
  6. Study Visa
  7. Family Reunification Visa
  8. Schengen Visa – Short Stay

1. Non-Lucrative Temporary Resident Spain Visa:

This one is my visa choice! It is simple to apply. It is not expensive. You need only hand in your personal documents, show means of subsistence, accommodation and get access to medical. This you can do all by yourself if you follow the link for Non-lucrative visa explaining the who, the what and the how. If you have the funds to support yourself and your dependents for a year this is the best option.

2. Self Employed Working Visa (Work Permit):

If you have a business you would like to start up or buy in Spain, if you are a freelancer or independent contractor and you do not qualify for Entrepreneurs visa then this one is for you. You will most likely need to show a business plan for this visa type. This is not an easy visa to apply for. But don’t stress, it doesn’t need to be complicated, but you will need to prove that you are capable, and you have finances in line with your startup.

NOTE: If possible look at the Non-lucrative visa as your first choice. Once you are a Spanish resident for 1 year it will be easier to apply for this visa.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THIS TYPE OF VISA

3. Working Visa as an employee:

If you have employment and a contract showing this. Hopefully if this is the case your new Employer will be kind enough to assist from the Spanish side and organise most of what you need.

4. Real Estate/Capital Investors Visa – Golden Visa:

This one I am going to leave it up to you, there are so many agents ready to assist and if you have the funds its best to stick with them through the whole process.

Personally I feel this visa type is a total waste… unless you are unable or not planning to live in the Eu country of choice and have money in abundance. As there are easier and more lucrative ways to residency eg. NON LUCRATIVE visa for Spain.

5. Study Visa

If you are accepted at a University or other educational learning centre this one should be your choice. If you have all the paperwork from the learning centre, you would only need proof of accommodation and means of subsistence for the time of study. This could be sponsored or independent.

6. Family Reunification Visa for EU Citizens

7. Family Reunification Visa for non-EU Citizens

If you are joining a family member that is a resident in Spain and you are unable to go the Non lucrative route then this is your choice. You would need documents proving that you are related. For a Husband or wife you would need an unabridged marriage certificate. For Child (Dependant) or parent it would be Unabridged Birth Certificate.

8. Short Stay (Schengen) Visa

Lucky you! NO STRESS! And fun in the sun!

Easy peesy…. Show Flight ticket, Accommodation booked, or sponsored, funds for time of stay and fill in visa application form. Then you are sorted! No longer than 3 months stay unless you lucky.

What Documents are needed?

If you have followed the trail above you should more or less know which visa type is for you. To get your documents ready.

Almost all the visa types accept Schengen visa will need these documents:

  1. Apply for your Spanish NIE Number – A simple process.
  2. Personal Documents you may not need them all. This will depend on your visa choice but rather have those that seem relevant to you on hand in case.
  3. Channel for Each Document – The process for each document to meet the requirements. If you don’t need a personl document for a visa type, I would suggest getting it but don’t follow through on translations until or if you need them.

Follow each step to get your visa approved for Spain. It may seem complicated but if you do it one step at a time, the process is simple. No need for expensive lawyers etc. For those that can afford the luxury, that’s great.

For those with a limited budget don’t be deterred. It is not difficult. At the end of the day, if you meet the requirements and you apply at a consulate that is fair, you should manage doing this all on your own easily. Just follow these posts and you will be fine.
