Kolasin Montenegro

Kolasin is in the North of Montenegro. If you go there in winter, end December to March, its a winter wonderland with snow, ski resorts and buzzing with skier’s from all over the world. The rest of the time – its warm, its cold, its green and it is beautiful!!

Getting to Kolasin

A few years ago it would have taken you almost 4 hours from the coastal areas along the small windy village roads. Today, there is a new high way, with so many tunnels and 3 lanes in some places. This makes the travel to Kolasin about 1,5 hours drive in the summer months. Weather depending in the winter. So you can be on the coast swimming and in the snow skiing on the same day.

Kolasin is the hidden ski gem in Europe. This is where all the activity is during the winter months in Montenegro. With breathtaking scenery and reasonably priced ski adventures. It is an authentic little town with a cozy atmosphere and the locals are very friendly.

In winter it is the skiing everyone comes to do in Kolasin. Book a ski instructor if you are a beginner. There are slopes for different levels of skiers. It is a small Switzerland but in many ways better as it is still unspoiled.

In the summer months there is even more to do. It is a great place if you love the outdoors and activities range from strenuous to just having fun.

  • of course, Skiing, snowboarding, snowmobile,
  • quad bikes to rent for those who prefer less physical exercise. Great fun, guided tours in the country side aroud Kolasin,
  • many hiking trails, if you are experienced you will find the routes on the maps, if not, it would be better to do a guided walk. Either way the scenery is super,
  • some great mountain bike trails for the cross country lovers, I do suggest you take someone who knows the routes, if you are new it may be overwhelming as the countryside is vast,
  • Jeep tours,
  • Horse back riding,
  • river rafting in the Tara river gorge – a famous activity to do in this area,
  • Canyoning,
  • Adventure Park – great for team building,
  • Fishing

Kolasin, Montenegro- The Town

Kolasin has that typical country charm mixed with cozy, beautiful and lush. There are many new developments on the go, and soon there will be many ski accommodation resorts to pick and choose from. There is a feeling of growth in this little town.

It is already a ski mecca contender and soon it will be matching some of the top ski resorts in Europe. With the town in the center of all the activity. It has a few restaurants that are really great. You have a supermarket, a bakery and more. So, as far as settling in for a weekend or holiday, all you need is there.
