Kotor Old Town

Graced with mystery, charm and much pizazz! There is a Venetian influence all about town, reminders of Kotor’s roots. The old town is shadowed by the beautiful Mount LovΔ‡en and its limestone cliffs in 50 shades of green, orange, grey and brown and they stand guard waiting to mesmerize its viewers.

Known as the city of cats and this is the reason for all the cat souvenirs. You might even see some of these cat celebrities strutting about the town alleyways. If you are not a cat fan, be patient, these are working cats. They are the cleaners of all the things ‘mice and not nice’. The locals are proud of the town cats and feed them regularly.

There are great walks in and around Kotor. Ladder of Kotor, being one of them – start this walk at San Giovanni Fortress, “behind” the back side of the old town and its castle walls. It takes you a little way up the mountain offering you spectacular views of Boka bay and Kotor’s old town. Don’t forget the water and sunblock. Fitness level: Medium-Difficult.
