Documents needed for your Application:

As received from the Cape Town consulate keeping in mind each consulate seems to have their own rules.
- 1 Photo.
- ORIGINAL PASSPORT and COPY of all the pages (including the Blank ones).
- Form EX-01.
- Financial Means:
- 4 Months bank statements and other means of subsistence if needed.
- At time of publishing this was 2316,08€ per month for main applicant.
- Updated table below for the year 2022 (please ensure the correct amount on the Spanish government website to be 100% sure that they have not made any updated changes to the amounts), main applicant 27,792euros per annum and additional for each family member.
- Do ADD more, these are minimum amounts, your application will be more positive /successful if you can show a little more than the minimum amounts.

You should be able to renew on your own. It is not a very complicated process once you get over the fear factor. My blogs are to assist those that are paying 100 and 1000’s of Euros to immigration attorneys for what are really simple processes.
It feels daunting but it seems that it is basically just collecting your documents and taking them together with the completed forms. You would need to do this anyway even if you were paying someone to help.
You should begin the renewal application process 60 days before your current TIE expires but with Covid I would start 90 days before. Remember you are allowed to apply up to 90 days after the current card expiry dat but if you are late you will be fined, so don’t rely on this.
This is what you need to take with for your renewal.
Generally, to renew your non-lucrative visa, you will need the following documents:
Application Form EX01 (two copies),
Fee Form 790-052 (paid and stamped),
Your passport (valid for at least one year),
Copy of all the pages of your passport,
Your current Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjeros or TIE (often referred to as a resident card),
Health insurance that complies with the requirements of the Immigration Office,
Proof of sufficient and stable income for the next 2 years (monthly, more than four times the current year’s IPREM for the main applicant, and additionally, one IPREM for each family member),
Your address registration in Spain (padrón) no more than three months old.
You should have most of these items and can download the forms to complete and take with you.
If you have school going children you will also need to request a report from their school, submit a copy of their birth certificates.
All documents not issued in Spanish must be translated by an official translator that’s recognized by Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That will be easy to find on one of the Facebook groups in your area.
You should have copies of all the documents and their originals for submitting.
The final step is to apply separately for your new TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjeros) and this must be done in person. TIE applications are processed at National Police offices and you must make an appointment in advance to submit your application.

When you have made an appointment you will receive an email with your confirmation document. You will need to print it out and along with the following documentation take to your appointment.
Three recent passport-sized photos
Your passport, and a copy of the main page
Your current TIE
Your resolution letter
Fee Form 790-012 (paid and stamped)

My Posts are on personal experiences. Since we have been through the visa processes by doing it ourselves I can say that it always sounds more daunting than it actually is and most of the documents needed need to be provided by you anyway. So might as well just do it…
