SOLLER MALLORCA Spain

Soller on the island of Mallorca off the coast of Spain. A very special little village tucked away between the orange groves. The train from Mallorca takes you there. A quiet spot rich in tourism, some 3km from the Port of Soller.

For the hustle and bustle go into the town square or down to the port. For a quiet day head into the country side, or find a secluded spot in town. A little bit of everything makes this a perfect destination.

The Train to Soller – Ferrocarril de Soller

Soller is based around the citrus and olive groves and like the rest of Spain its focus is on keeping its visitors happy.

It is linked to Palma, the Majorcan (Mallorca) capical by the historic railway line called the Ferrocarril de Soller or tren de Soller.

Taking the train to Soller is half the fun. It is sort of isolated from the rest of the island, which makes it a bit more authentic. The “Tren de Soller” is a must do island experience.

The Placa Constitucio & Church of St. Bartholomew

The town surrounds Sollers Placa Constitucio with its centre fountain and plane trees. This is where most people gather in the evenings with its many restaurants. All the street cafes and local shops lead off from here. There are restaurants all over Soller. You would need to google and book for fine dining restaurants as they are mostly fully booked.

The Church of Saint Bartholomew is the icon of this little village. The Tram passes through this plaza down to the port.

SΓ³ller is notable for the houses that were built in the early twentieth century by the emigrants who returned with great wealth. The homes on the Via reflect the Art Nouveau styles of France.

The historica houses are of the 16th to 18th C and follow the street plan of Islamic origin.

The Best Bakery in Soller, Mallorca Spain:

My number one is most definetly Horno Santo Cristo.

We didn’t do the “bed & breakfast” thing for this village. Eating at the bakery every morning was the BEST! Just reserve the bed, you won’t regret having breakfast here each morning. This little bakery has spunk! With locals, fresh pastries and laughter.

Horno Santo Cristo Bakery

The baker has been around for many years and is part of Sollers “history” Chatting to everyone with a “hola”… “comas”… to all the locals who are in and out. I wished I understood the Spanish language better to understand his great sense of humor with all the customers. The best spot in Soller, Mallorca for un cafe!

Day Trips from Soller:

Port de Sa Calobra & Torrent de Pareis

We rented scooters for this trip making this the best day we had whilst travelling Spain. It was special as we did this trip with our best friends.

We drove down to the Port de Sa Calobra, a super scary narrow road you need to navigate. Stick behind a bus and you’ll be safe. If you are a true cyclist this is a road you would want to concur!

Torrent de Pareis
Port De Sa Calobra

There’s a nice spot below at the waters edge where you can have a refreshing “cervesa” overlooking the bay. Walking through the tunnel leads you to the adjacent bay Torrent de Pareis. This is a short easy walk through the tunnel and takes you to the cove of blue blue waters.

The beach is quite crowded as everyone makes this journey for a swim. Take your cossie with. Don’t be shy, all shapes and sizes welcomed and it is worth it. Whaling in the clear blue water with bright blue fish, I felt like I just landed in Finding Nemo. Was truly a special day!

Soller is a great “Drop A Pin” location. It has many amazing day trip destinations nearby. A short distance in all directions get you to amazing vistas, beaches, coves and more.

Valldemossa

Fabulous social village with lots of buzz! We did some great shopping in the little boutique stores. Give yourself ample time to do some browsing here and don’t forget to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere in one of the many restaurants. Then mozie on down to the port. Make a day of this village its worth it!
