2. Gavin Collins
Gavin Collins is my favourite Stellenbosch Artist. Keep in mind this is in the eye of the beholder. Born in Cape Town, South Africa on May 30th 1971, and the son of a farmer and artist.
His talents came to light at the age of 14. With his parents support they allowed him at 16 to leave school and attend the Ruth Prowse School of Art. As a young farm boy he was more keen on working with his hands, drawing and painting.
With his first solo exhibition at the age of 14. He is world renown artist with a huge collector base worldwide, two of the bigger markets being in the United States and Europe.
Owning at present 4 galleries, situated in the Village Centre, Huguenot Road, Franschhoek and Church Street, Stellenbosch.
Gavin is a master artist and is very versatile in all styles of oil painting. Many of his Master Series paintings have been sold directly to the collectors upon completion and without being viewed by the public.
